Generally speaking, for a casual get-together at home, send invitations 2-4 weeks in advance, and for a larger event at a venue that requires an accurate headcount, sending 4-6 weeks out is best. For milestones like sweet 16 parties, quinceañeras, b-mitzvahs, or birthdays that require travel, consider sending invitations 8-10 weeks before the event.
