Emily McDowell is an illustrator, writer, and designer who taught herself how to draw bubble letters at the age of six.

Her work reflects our shared human experience, in all its different, messy forms, and centers on relatable, universal truths. She is also inspired by letters, nature, folk art, geometry, cultural quirks, and the crazy urban landscape of her adopted home of Los Angeles. She may never be comfortable calling herself an artist. Emily’s line of stationery and gifts was launched in May 2013, and is now carried in hundreds of stores in the US and Canada, including Urban Outfitters and PaperSource nationwide. She is thrilled to welcome her greeting cards into the digital age through this collaboration with Paperless Post.
