Premier stationer Crane & Co. has been dedicated to the art of classic correspondence for more than two centuries. Crane sets the standard for exquisite quality and craftsmanship and has been the stationery of choice for royalty, U.S. Presidents, and notable families alike.
Noticeably soft to the touch, cotton papers look brighter than wood-pulp papers and fully absorb the impressions made during the printing process. Our color selection includes Pearl White, Ecru, and Beach Glass. Full-size cards are 5.5" x 7.5"; stationery and save the dates are 5.9" x 4.5"; reply and information cards are 5.3” x 3.8”.
Crane’s 100% cotton envelopes are assembled and lined by hand. Envelopes and envelope liners come in colors that match our designs and Crane’s signature fine papers. Engraving, letterpress, and thermography are available on all envelopes.
Since the 1400s, engraving has been the standard for high-end, formal stationery. Once a custom etched plate is made, the paper is pressed firmly against the inked plate to produce raised text with a matte finish and a gentle “bruise” on the back of the card. This process is available on Crane’s elegant Kid Finish paper.
Letterpress printing involves a custom relief plate which is inked and pressed lightly into the paper, resulting in imprinted text and a card that is expressively tactile. Crane’s 100% cotton Lettra paper—soft and luxurious to the touch with a distinct, extra-bulky finish—was specially developed to showcase this timeless technique.
Sometimes referred to as “imitation engraving,” thermography is an alternative printing method that lacks the distinctive “bruise” on the back of the card. Embossing powder is added to the printing ink and then heated to create raised text with a slight sheen. This process is available on Crane’s elegant Kid Finish paper.
Prices for our fine-crafted stationery reflect the standard retail prices of Crane’s custom papers. Engraved and letterpress printed designs start at $2.04 per card including envelope; thermographed designs start at $1.58 per card including envelope.
Production of your custom cards will take up to 5-8 business days, depending on the complexity of your order. We offer standard ground (2-5 days), 2-day priority, and overnight shipping; all estimates are calculated in business days. You’ll receive tracking information when your order ships.
